But in recent times, Hippo seems to have disappeared off the radar. One such brand is Hippo Golf, which was particularly popular in the mid-nineties. And while most people opt for clubs from the likes of TaylorMade, PING, or Callaway, there are lots of other brands out there that are worth thinking about. I certainly will if I decide to give them a try when they're back in stock.Today, there are so many brands for you to choose from when you’re looking for golf clubs to buy. I hope more people like you try them and give their honest thoughts. I think a lot of people are undervaluing the benefit of a brand like this reducing the noise and offering a product to this demo of golfer that isn't really served elsewhere. Those complaints that I've seen so far again seem speculative. If there are real issues with build quality and durability I hope those issues are raised by reviewers who experience them. I just want to know if they're made well or poorly. as far as I can find with a quick search Callaway and Taylor Made are manufactured in Asia and assembled in the US or Mexico so who cares? The majority of all products, golf or otherwise, are manufactured by someone else, branded, and marked up. A lot of these complaints sound speculative to me, and 2. I don't know how I'm supposed to feel about complaints about them being made in Asia or manufactured by someone else, rebranded, and marked up. I spent a ton of time on it, spent something like $400 after getting everything I needed, and am not at all happy with the performance or aesthetic.Ī lot of folks direct you to other DTC brands which I'm sure are great, but again, there are a ton of decisions to be made that are very overwhelming, and every time I go through it my cart totals $1200-1400 and thats without a bag and head covers, so well over twice the price of this set all-in! I bought used about a year ago trying to get back into golf. I'm sure you can get good used clubs like everyone says in these threads but it is exhausting and there are costs to that. Its helpful to see something from someone in the target market give feedback from actually trying the clubs! Check out YouTube videos on them, and I will be posting one soon. This set should really be on any new to medium experience golfers radar. Much better than the Wilson beginner set I started with. The putter cover is also magnetic, which is a nice touch. They’re leather and also stitched like the bag. The covers are better than most I’ve seen. It comes with a chest harness and a tripod system. It has stitched logos and feels really nice. The bag and other driver covers: the bag is phenomenal. The grip feels great amazing and the balance is perfect. The weight balance is absolutely spot on. Putter: at first I thought I was going to hate it. This hybrid is extremely well built and one of the best I’ve personally used. I thought I would miss a 3/4 iron since the bag does not include one. Hybrid: wow, this is the star of the bag. I will do another review on just these two clubs soon. I don’t see much use from the sand wedge, but I did get pretty consistent with the pitching wedge. P/S: these feel like the weakest clubs in the bag, but overall not bad at all. These actually feel like they could compete with the higher end brands. I’m hitting the irons much much better than I did the driver. I shanked my first one and thought I made a horrible decision going with Robin. Irons: they feel solid fresh out of the bag. Again, I haven’t golfed regularly in 10 years. My first shot went 190, second 220 and I’ve been hovering around 215 since. Solid grips and over all a very nice swing. It has a medium flex and feels good teeing off. I was a consistent golfer 2010-2011, but I just got back in to golfing about 2 months ago.ĭriver: First feel, it is nice. I hit +5 par on average and do not use a handicap. My first set was a beginner Wilson set, and I since have inherited a hand me down set that features callaway and titlest. They want the average person to be able to golf with a good quality club, without having any prior experience. They want to bring the complete rookie some what experienced golfer onto the course. To begin: Robin Golf does not want to compete or replace your Taylor Made, Callaway or Nike clubs. Just an amateur that did not want to spend more than $1000 for a sport I may not stick with. Preface: I am not sponsored by Robin Golf.
